This pilot/escort vehicle course takes place at Muresk Institute over three days and will give you a good theoretical background and practical experience in the skills of piloting oversized loads. The first two days of the course are spent at Muresk Institute’s training rooms where you are taught the theory side of piloting and you are also assessed. The third day of the course is spent on the road doing practical training and assessment, piloting a 4.8 metre wide load for approximately 350 km. The practical assessment requires each trainee to pilot the permitted oversized load as lead pilot and as rear pilot. On successful completion, this course will allow participants to obtain their Heavy Vehicle Pilot Licence.
Note: An application form, copy of your Certificate of Competency, medical Assessment of Fitness to Drive and $205 administration fee must be submitted to Main Roads WA to receive your Heavy Vehicle Pilot Licence.
